Historic Lodge
Discover the perfect place to relax, recharge, and refresh with the private rental of our historic wilderness lodge. Built in 1929 and designed by one of Maine’s most popular architects, Felix Arnold Burton, the lodge is Maine’s largest and most famous home of logs. Constructed of local spruce timber, the lodge sits on a foundation of fieldstone spanning 125 feet long by 75 feet wide and stands high on a hillside overlooking Big Wood Lake with majestic evergreens in the foreground. It is truly one of the most gorgeous views in the State of Maine!
You will experience the Northwoods of Maine in a virtually unchanged sporting camp. Upon arrival, enter the great room, flanked with two stately bow-shaped wooden staircases welcoming you to your home away from home. The lodge offers plenty of space for you and your group to gather by the grand piano or relax next to the floor to ceiling natural stone fireplaces (currently unavailable for use) taking in the cathedral beam ceilings and authentic log walls. For fun, you may opt to enjoy the billiards table located in the adjacent game room. The lounge is stocked with books, VHS tapes, and a television* with an HDMI cable, or enjoy a meal in the kitchenette. Don’t forget to step outside and take in the mountain air on the beautiful sundeck for birdwatching or enjoying the acres of land complete with a fire pit for stargazing. The cozy lodge includes nine ensuite guest rooms on two floors. Discover Sky Lodge and Book Now!
*We encourage our guests to enjoy conversations and the outdoors versus electronics. Smart televisions and cable are not provided in the historic lodge.
