Enjoy the simple pleasures of nature while staying on our campus. Our cabins and homes are also close together, please be mindful of other guests. Guests should be considerate of others and keep noise levels down, especially during later evening hours.
Wi-Fi and Internet
Wi-Fi and internet are not available in all accommodations. We encourage our guests to enjoy conversations and the outdoors versus electronics. VCRs and tapes may be provided upon request.
We love kids! However, safety regulations in 1929 differ than those of today and due to the historic nature of the lodge, there are a few items to consider. Baluster spacing is wide and balcony railings are short, for this reason, the historic lodge and cabins are not recommended for small children.
Unity College Sky Lodge abides by State of Maine Eating and Lodging Rules. Each accommodation has limits to the maximum number of guests, for this reason cribs and cots are unavailable. Accommodation capacity limits are as follows:
- Aspen, Birch, and Cedar Cabins – 4 guests
- Mountain View Cabin – 6 guests
- Trails End Private Home – 8 guests
- Individual Guest Rooms – 2 guests
- Historic Lodge – 24 guests
- Dining Room and Events – 50 guests
Fireplaces and Wood Stoves
For guests staying in Aspen, Birch, Cedar, Mountain View, or Trails End split and seasoned wood and starter kits are available for purchase through our online retail store. We invite you to use these items with care. If you are running low on wood, please text us at 207-742-7256 to have additional wood added to your account and delivered. Do not dump ashes in the trash, on the deck, lawn, or snow. At this time, the fireplaces in the historic lodge are unavailable for use.
Gas grills are available for use in the Summer season. If propane is empty, reach out to our staff and request a replacement can. Grill tools are provided and can be found in the kitchen.
Trash and Recycling
Recycle often and recycle right. Moose River, Maine participates in single-stream recycling. Recycle all empty plastic bottles, cans, paper, and cardboard. Keep food and liquids out of the recycling. Separate trash from recycling as appropriate. If your cabin home requires trash pick-up or additional bags text us at 207-742-7256. Do not leave trash outside. There’s no substitute for nature and trash can harm the wildlife.
Parking is available next to each cabin and home. RVs and campers are prohibited from being parked on Unity College property. Snowmobiles cannot be parked on the wooded rear decks of the cabins and homes. Space is limited, each cabin and home can accommodate one ATV/snowmobile trailer.
Towels and Bedding
White towels and bedding are included in the cabin homes for each guest and for human use only. White towels are not meant for dogs, sporting equipment, or vehicles. If rag towels are needed text us at 207-742-7256. Any damage to towels and bedding will be charged to the guest’s credit card.

Unity College is committed to creating a healthy environment for all. All buildings and outdoor spaces are tobacco and drug-free (inclusive of cigarettes, vapes, and all controlled substances). Although marijuana may be legal in Maine, it remains banned on college campuses, including Unity College Sky Lodge. Tobacco, vape, or drug use in any of the accommodations or public Unity College spaces may result in a cleaning fee starting at $250.00 and being banned from the property.
To ensure the safety of our guests and staff, any visitor who is in possession of a weapon on Sky Lodge premises is personally responsible for abiding by all applicable federal, state, and local laws and ensure the weapon is unloaded, secured in a locked, hard-sided weapon container provided by the guest, and always safeguarded the weapon. The weapon must remain out of sight whether secured in a vehicle or accommodation. Weapons are prohibited from Welcome Center, Moose River Valley Center, and other public buildings. Sky Lodge is private land and hunting is prohibited in the 150-acres. Guests who fail to abide by this policy will be asked to leave the premises immediately. No exemption to this policy is allowed for private persons, even those licensed and permitted to carry a firearm, and/or where applicable, to conceal-carry a firearm.
